Sound Mirrors

sound_mirror

This sound mirror was designed by Dr W.S. Tucker of the Royal Engineers, to act as giant concrete ears that warned of incoming enemy aeroplanes and airships about to attack coastal towns. This one in particular is from Dungeness and was taken by David Barrington

I like firestations but this one is a very beautiful take on the traditional.

FAT toilet

love toilet

This love toilet is designed by FAT architects. A porcelin shrine for worshipping couples, it shows the intimacy of a relationship while also getting a bit too close for comfort.

I went to a talk by these guys a while ago and their stuff inverts the formal style follows function. They do some increadibly great stuff. It actually rather amazing they can get work out of it.

This is absolutely beautiful. A perfect example of architecture inspired from its environment and enhances its surroundings. I love the ‘invisible’ glass barrier at the end - releases butterflies in my stomach just looking at it.
